We helped launch Kerfuffle with decorations at Tiger Tiger (Haymarket) and The Grosvenor (Park Lane).
When building sculptures time can run away with you. Its risky to attempt to build shapes like these 100% on site so I like to build the day before and transport everything ready made. It’s far less stressful having to work late than running out of time on the job. The lolly & ice cream required the 100’s & 1000’s to be glued into place – this is a delicate job and they can become disconnected in transit – so these were glued on site.
The selfie frame has NOT lamp bases screwed into wood to give a better more stable weight. The lolly & ice cream are on aeropole base plates which had to be collected after the event.
The lolly has 1.5 poles – to get the exact height I wanted I cut 1 pole in half and gaffa taped it to 1st pole (I actually had a damaged pole laying around – so it’s always best to save these).
The lolly is an old school technique for building balloon walls know as “square pack”. I made small columns alternating the balloon size – the columns then slot together. I completed the solid connection with elastic bands.
Decorations like these give the client massive impact and for a small budget – Kerfuffle were delighted.
