As well as this years pride balloon walls I’m providing a walking float at a number of parades, the first being Birmingham Pride.
This NATWEST framework is old school, we used to do aluminium shapes like this in the 90’s before foil balloon lettering was introduced. Each letter is bent into shape and then covered with approximatly 250 x 5″ balloons. Similar to this heart frame sculpture.
You can see from the photos they are extremely light weight and easy to manoeuvre. The advantage of this style of lettering is the bold colours and they can be built to any size. The disadvantage is the cost – but as these were for multiple pride events we were able to collect the frames and use them over & over to help reduce the setup costs. This turned out to be swings & roundabouts – yes we didn’t have to build the frames each time but unfortunately it turns out that meeting & finding people at the end of each parade was not an easy task. Combine this with trying to park, bursting the balloons & sweeping the street then transporting what’s left back to van was plain old hard work.
But…. you don’t mind hard work when it looks like this, the results were amazing & the client was over the moon.
