This wall was part of a 1st Birthday celebration at Coombe Abbey. It was used as a partition to separate the bar from the main marquee. It had to look fantastic from both sides.
I used big base plates close together to make sure the structure was strong and could withstand the odd bashing from party guests.
Installations like this always need some good planning, loads of prep beforehand and really good access at least 6 hours before the party starts.
On this particular order even choosing the colours seemed a task.
Probably the most difficult thing was trying to estimate how many balloons were required to build the wall. In the end I decided to over order – nothing worse than building something spectacular and half way though thinking you might run out of the balloons.
As described above the wall needed to look amazing from both sides so I needed plenty of 3ft, orbs and chrome for backup. You can see in the video that we had access to Coombe Abbey really early (it was cold) so no stress with worrying about running out of time.
All the balloon/flower centre pieces were made in advance and you can see a description how the hot air balloon was made here.
