2 x 1250 Balloon drops in Hall 3, The ICC for Slimming World conference 2019. On this occasion the balcony area was used for guests so we had to move the pull strings to the higher gantry. We installed at 8pm on a Friday night and pulled the lines 9pm Saturday.
On arriving at The ICC I decided to cut the nets to the exact width of the truss. This gives a tidy finish rather than nets that are too short with gaps either side or nets that are too long and sag below the truss. I’d rather over deliver on the balloon quantity than have gaps either side. Once we’re on site with a crew it only takes 5 minutes to fill an extra 6ft of net and the cost of the latex is minimal. ICC Balloon drops need to look fab before and after the release. The sails in the ceiling are White so everything up there is visible. I used the sails to my advantage and ran my pull line though 3 and up to the gantry.
On launch night PSP supplied us with head cans so we could pull the lines at the exact moment – just after slimming worlds winner for 2019.
