Outdoor balloon decorations for the UK Athletics Grand Prix at The Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. Working outdoors with balloons can be difficult when it’s rainy and windy but also the Sun can speed up the balloon oxidising. Darker colours fade faster in the sun but as the UK Athletics colour is Midnight Blue we had to use it.
We built 6 balloon columns, 7 puff ball lamppost decorations, 21 table arrangements and an entrance arch. The balloon pillars were topped with 3ft balloons printed on both sides.
The entrance arch was placed over a height gate so that when the gate was opened the arch swung open with it to allow high vehicles into the area – but add some form of decoration.
As well as transforming this Birmingham venue we also had a crew in London building the start marker for the Dulux Colour Run.
UPDATE: We were back at the Alexander Stadium on 06.06.16 for more arches and the Olympic Stadium for the Muller Anniversary Games.
